Mason Jars of Mystery

"Be not miserable about what may happen tomorrow. The same everlasting Father, who cares for you today, will care for you tomorrow." - Francis de Sales
This quote has constantly been on my mind, by choice, do in part to our human nature. It brings me so much comfort, especially when I scold myself with it. Remembering the magnitude of God's love & grace is almost impossible. Frankly, I don't even fully understand it. Yet, I should know that God always provides & that He will never leave me lost at sea. Praise the Lord.

Hello again. I am not a blogging expert so I am not sure if three posts in a row is overkill, but I have a lot on my mind. Today I am thinking about Mason jars. Levi & I went to the Antique Mall on Mass this past week (which I might add has become not so 'antique-y' & more 'flea-y') & we stumbled upon these glorious vintage Mason jars. What caught my eye, what set them apart, was that they were blue & had this glorious, almost bullet, shape. So, so beautiful. And of course, I knew exactly what to do with them - canisters. When we moved we tossed our canisters because they had gotten creepy over the years. I can imagine my flour and sugar sitting majestically on my kitchen counter, with an elegant blue hue to them. And what I loved the most was that we didn't just find Ball Mason jars, but all different brands; Root, Drey & Atlas, with slightly different shades of blue & slightly different body shapes. What sealed the deal was that they were 2 quart jars - perfect for canisters. I am hoping to go back in a few weeks & purchase these babies.

Also, the Rock fabric swatch arrived. Not liking it so much now. It's kind of got a brown thing going on. I definitely want grey.

Anyway, I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend. I am currently doing laundry & getting ready for the trek to Pomona (Levi's hometown. It's about 45 minutes from Lawrence), to spend the weekend with his parents.

God bless.

Swatches of Self Discovery

I know I poked fun at myself for being excited about the mail. Well, in defense of myself (?), I have been expecting several important things. First, my W-2 & second, some potential fabric swatches for a futon slipcover. When we moved we sold our couch, in hopes of being able to buy a new couch once we found a place of our own. After listening to my husband (amazing), we decided to hold off on the purchase of new living room furniture & explore the world of futons. And so I don’t feel like I am taking a step backwards in the world of interior decorating & design, I am having a custom slipcover made. I am pretty excited.

Anyway, enough about futons…here are the colors in consideration. Opinions are welcome.

Both swatches are Tweed. And I am crazy about Tweed! It's so fun. Anyway, the lighter fabric is called Wolf & the darker, Rock. I love them both equally, so I cannot wait to see what they look like in real life.

I feel like we are making a fresh start in our decorating. I told Levi that this time around, basically starting from scratch, I want us to really hone in on what our style is. We both enjoy Shabby Chic but tend to lean more toward Retro/Modern (maybe because it is a little bit more manly) then Shabby. But we love Chic. To this new experience we are bringing only two colors from our old pallet; slate blue & cream. Obviously, with the pillows I am making you can assume that brick/rush/poppy red has been added into the mix. I wanted a bit of “pop!”& contrast. I think that’s the Modern talking in me.

Here are the drapes my mother & I made last spring, so you can see our original color scheme. I am THRILLED to add red to our lives!

And last, but certainly not least; the most beautiful chair I have EVER seen. We stumbled upon it while we were at Nebraska Furniture Mart several weeks ago. I love it & gawk at this photo often. I think it just really embraces our color pallet & displays them in a cohesive way. You see cream, our blue, red & a few other stimulating colors. I can just see myself in this chair, bundled up & reading a good book. Love it.

Pillows of Purpose

I have had far too much time on my hands lately - basically ever since we moved in with my parents. You can only wash so many dishes, & take the dogs out so many times. So, I started getting excited about other things as a result of my boredom & loneliness. Things like my brother getting home from work and the mail coming...wait...am I 75 years old!? NO! I am 23. I should be doing stuff...like...sewing. Sewing? 75 year olds sew...Well, you get the picture. Nobody should be excited about the mail arriving.

So, I went to Hobby Lobby & I bought a pattern for throw pillows to go on a couch that we do not own, that will someday go in a house that we do not live in. Nonetheless, I am still very excited to get crafting again. Now we just have to find my sewing machine somewhere in the storage unit that we have rented. I have faith. I mean, it's either find it or lose my sanity.

The pattern I bought is similar to this...yet, more rectangular and requires 5 buttons ;-)

Here is the BEAUTIFUL rust/brick red fabric & the buttons that I chose for the pillow.
I like sparkles.

Random : My boy Bingy, watching the snow fall.

p.s. the sewing machine was located!
