Swatches of Self Discovery

I know I poked fun at myself for being excited about the mail. Well, in defense of myself (?), I have been expecting several important things. First, my W-2 & second, some potential fabric swatches for a futon slipcover. When we moved we sold our couch, in hopes of being able to buy a new couch once we found a place of our own. After listening to my husband (amazing), we decided to hold off on the purchase of new living room furniture & explore the world of futons. And so I don’t feel like I am taking a step backwards in the world of interior decorating & design, I am having a custom slipcover made. I am pretty excited.

Anyway, enough about futons…here are the colors in consideration. Opinions are welcome.

Both swatches are Tweed. And I am crazy about Tweed! It's so fun. Anyway, the lighter fabric is called Wolf & the darker, Rock. I love them both equally, so I cannot wait to see what they look like in real life.

I feel like we are making a fresh start in our decorating. I told Levi that this time around, basically starting from scratch, I want us to really hone in on what our style is. We both enjoy Shabby Chic but tend to lean more toward Retro/Modern (maybe because it is a little bit more manly) then Shabby. But we love Chic. To this new experience we are bringing only two colors from our old pallet; slate blue & cream. Obviously, with the pillows I am making you can assume that brick/rush/poppy red has been added into the mix. I wanted a bit of “pop!”& contrast. I think that’s the Modern talking in me.

Here are the drapes my mother & I made last spring, so you can see our original color scheme. I am THRILLED to add red to our lives!

And last, but certainly not least; the most beautiful chair I have EVER seen. We stumbled upon it while we were at Nebraska Furniture Mart several weeks ago. I love it & gawk at this photo often. I think it just really embraces our color pallet & displays them in a cohesive way. You see cream, our blue, red & a few other stimulating colors. I can just see myself in this chair, bundled up & reading a good book. Love it.
