Breaking Free

This week has already worn me out & it's only Tuesday! Yesterday my mom slipped (as she says, "tried to fly"), on the front steps & broke her ankle. After a thankfully uneventful trip to the ER we got her home & she slept most of the day. There is also an elephant in the room, making our lives miserable. It's really challenging where I find my identity & how I define "family." I think the best thing for me to do is to just comfort the one it's hurting most, which is hard when I'm hurting too. But, you just have to look ahead & keep being thankful for all of God's blessings and not let the sins of past generations hold you back from being the person you were designed to be... ...coincidentally I am reading Beth Moore's book, "Breaking Free." It was originally intended to be a Bible study but was converted to a book for people like me who don't do Bible studies. Basically, it's about obstacles, chains, habits, ect - that keep us from fully letting go & becoming God's beautiful creation. I have been stunted by things that have hurt my self confidence & sense of belonging. It's very hard to "break free" when the elephant is sitting on you. But our God is greater & stronger then an elephant, & that is comforting.

Now, back to futon covers! The swatch for Wolf finally arrived & I couldn't be more pleased! As soon as our tax refund is in the bank & I am ordering a cover. I also found these AMAZING end tables on craigslist.com last night. They need a little work, but for $40 I think I can make it happen...They just need a little sanding, a new coat paint & a perhaps some new knobs, depending on how the original knobs are affixed. If they are still on craigslist Friday, I will call & see about looking at them this weekend. We would actually use them as night stands.

Well, I better get ready for work. It's only a four hour shift. I think I can handle that!
